A great headshot is your digital handshake—it's often the first impression you make on a potential client, employer, or business partner. My goal is to capture a professional, confident, and approachable image that truly represents you.
Here’s a guide to help you understand what a corporate headshot is and how you can best prepare for our session.
What is a Corporate Headshot?
A corporate headshot is a professionally taken portrait that showcases you in a professional context. Unlike a casual selfie, it’s carefully composed and lit to highlight your best features and project a sense of trustworthiness and competence. It’s an essential tool for your LinkedIn profile, company website, professional biography, and other networking platforms.
My focus is to capture your unique personality while maintaining a professional and polished look. We'll work together to ensure the photos align with your personal brand and career goals.
Preparing for Your Session
Our session is a quick but effective 30-minute shoot, and to make the most of our time, a little preparation goes a long way.
1. Wardrobe: Two Looks, Maximum Impact You're welcome to bring up to two different outfits to the session. This is a great way to showcase a little versatility in your professional brand.
Choose Wisely: Select attires that are professional, well-fitting, and reflect your industry's dress code. Stick to solid, neutral colors (e.g., navy, charcoal, gray, black, beige, white). These tend to be timeless and won't distract from your face.
Avoid: Busy patterns, loud logos, or overly bright colors, which can be distracting and look dated. A simple neckline and a well-fitted blazer or jacket can work wonders.
Details Matter: Make sure your clothes are ironed or steamed and free of lint. Bring your outfits on hangers to prevent wrinkles.
2. Grooming A little attention to detail here will make a big difference in the final images.
Hair: Have your hair styled the way you typically wear it for work. Make sure it's clean and neat.
Makeup: If you wear makeup, apply it in a natural, everyday style. The goal is to enhance your features, not to create a dramatic look. Avoid using products with SPF, as they can cause a white glare in flash photography.
Skin: Get a good night's sleep and hydrate well in the days leading up to your session. This will help your skin look its best.
For Gents: Get a fresh shave or trim your facial hair. If you have a clean-shaven look, consider shaving right before the session to avoid any midday shadow.
3. Relax and Trust the Process The best headshots come from a place of genuine confidence. It's completely normal to feel a little nervous, but my job is to make you feel comfortable and at ease. I'll provide clear and friendly guidance on posing and expression to ensure we get natural, authentic-looking photos.
After the Session
Within a few days of our session, you will receive all the high-resolution soft copies. These images will be carefully edited for color tone and exposure. From this gallery, you can select your top 10 favorite photos. I will then apply professional cosmetic touch-ups to these selected images, ensuring your final photos look polished and ready for use.
I can't wait to work with you to create a headshot that opens doors and elevates your professional brand!
